About Steve Zimmer

After a routine physical exam and subsequent testing, on September 15, 2023, Steve was diagnosed with Stage 4 (Gleason 8) prostate cancer, commonly classified as high risk. To an otherwise healthy 59 year old male, this news was devastating.

Upon receiving opinions from six doctors (five Oncologists and his Urologist), a treatment path was quickly determined. The G8 rated disease was aggressive and advanced, so doctors chose to kill the cancer using a combination of radiation (IMRT), hormone blockers & brachytherapy. Treatments are presently ongoing and will continue through November 2024.

Resulting from this life changing event, Steve has now dedicated his remaining life to The Fight to KILL Cancer, a nationwide effort to underscore the importance of annual screening of prostate cancer.  The Fight to KILL Cancer will also share knowledge of treatment options and further the understanding of this common and often deadly disease.
